Overall, with proper guidance and precautions, children and teenagers can safely interact with leeches. **

When a leech loses blood, it means that it has likely finished feeding on its host. Leeches feed by attaching themselves to a host and sucking blood until they are full. Once they are full, they will detach themselves and the wound will continue to bleed for a short period of time. This is a natural process for leeches and they will eventually move on to find another host to feed on. **

A leech treatment for a horse with a tendon injury involves placing medicinal leeches on the affected area. The leeches then attach themselves to the horse's skin and begin to feed on the blood. As they feed, they release natural anticoagulants and anti-inflammatory compounds into the wound, which can help improve blood flow and reduce swelling. The leeches are typically left in place for a certain amount of time, after which they are removed and the wound is cleaned. This treatment is believed to promote healing and reduce the risk of complications in tendon injuries. **
